SuperThermoLay forms an impervious, flexible waterproofing layer which can withstand normal movement of structure without showing any deterioration and serve for a prolonged period of time.
SuperThermoLay is normally used in protected roofing and waterproofing applications in a single layer system and is also recommended as base layer in multilayer system in various applications, including damp-proofing.
SuperThermoLay with cold flexibility up to 2 OC is supplied in following variants:
- Plain finish with thermo-fusible polyethylene film on both surfaces,
- Mineral / natural grey slate finish with thermo-fusible polyethylene film on one surface, and mineral / natural gray slate on the other surface.
Application:
- SuperThermoLay membranes are ideal for a wide range of waterproofing applications including roofs, reservoirs, basements, basement roof, sunken slabs, terrace garden, car parking, tunnels and bridge decks.

Surface Preparation:
- Remove all loose gravel, dirt, oil, grease and foreign matter by jet of dry air and clean the surface mechanically or by grinding to make it smooth before application
- Ensure that the moisture content in the prepared surface does not exceed 5%
- Correct all construction joints by grouting with ShaliGrout IP at 1 m apart and opening of joints in “V” cut groove and fill with ShaliFix RM C, using ShaliSBR Latex as the bond coat.
- Build-up gradient minimum 1 in 100 with PCC admixed with ShaliPlast LW +.
- Ensure that level of all drain mouth is lower than deck slab level by at least 15 mm
- Provide 75 mm x 75 mm coving made out of PCC admixed with ShaliPlast LW + and using ShaliSBR Latex as bond coat

- TarFelt APP is uniquely formulated, cold applied, pre-fabricated, economic elastomeric waterproofing membrane with non-woven polyester mat core.
- TarFelt APP forms an impervious, flexible waterproofing layer which can withstand normal movement of structure without showing any deterioration and serve for a prolonged period of time.
- TarFelt APP is normally used in protected roofing and waterproofing applications in a single layer system and is also recommended as base layer in multilayer system in various applications, including damp-proofing.
- TarFelt APP may, if so desired, be applied with hot bitumen of 30/40 grade after removing the release film. However, for application with hot bitumen, as aforesaid, TarFelt® APP is also produced without release film and is recommended for such application as it is slightly cheaper without any compromise on its characteristics. Bitumen Grade 85/25 or 90/15 shall be used for vertical surface.
Application:
- Waterproofing of corrugated asbestos / metal sheets, Basement / retaining walls in low water pressure area, Residential roofs / podiums.
- As base layer in multi-layer waterproofing system

Waterproofing Application:
- Apply ShaliBond APP uniformly on the substrate, approx. @ 3 m2 / kg (theoretical, depend upon surface condition) by trowel / brush and allow the solvent to evaporate. Unroll TarFelt® APP over the tacky surface and bond it to the surface by applying uniform pressure. This makes TarFelt® APP virtual self-adhesive membrane.
- For overlapping of joints, rub the polyethylene side of the membrane by wire brush, apply ShaliBond APP over the rubbed area, allow it to be tacky and then affix bituminous side of the TarFelt
- For longitudinal and transverse joints overlap of 75 mm and 100 mm respectively is desired.
- Alternatively, apply TarFelt® APP with hot bitumen 30/40 grade @ 800 grm / m2 with Pour & Roll Method in horizontal surface and bitumen 30/40 grade @ 600 grm / m2 in vertical surface.
- Cut 1” deep grove 300 - 450 mm above the roof surface on the parapet wall and seal the edge of TarFelt® APP inside the groove with polymer modified mortar. In case of low height parapets, terminate TarFelt® APP over the parapet.
- Allow 3-4 days for full dry.
- Seal all the corners of membrane with the ShaliBond APP / STP make 30/40

Application Methodology Surface Preparation:
- Remove all loose gravel, dirt, oil, grease and foreign matter by jet of dry air and clean the surface mechanically or by grinding to make it smooth before application
- Repair all cracks by cutting “V” groove and fill with PMC mortar prepared in the ratio of ShaliCrete : Cement : Sand (1 : 2 : 5)
- Provide 50 mm x 50 mm coving made out of PMC mortar as above.
Material Preparation:
- Stir TarFelt LM by a slow speed mixture (approx. 400 rpm) fitted with a suitable mixing paddle to ensure a homogenous mix
- After stirring, wait for the product to settle in order to let entrapped air escape
Waterproofing Application:
- Slightly damp the surface. Avoid standing water / ponding
- Prime the surface with a mixture of TarFelt LM and potable water in the ratio of 50 : 50 and apply @ 400 grm / m2 of the mixture and allow it to touch dry
- Apply first coat of TarFelt LM @ 0.70 kg / m² by brush / roller / airless spray while the primed surface is tacky. For faster and smoother application, airless spray is preferred
- Spread fiber glass net of 45 gsm with overlaps of 50 mm in both directions when the surface is still tacky
- Allow 1st coat to dry for 10 – 12 hr
- Apply second coat of TarFelt LM @ 0.70 kg / m² by brush / roller / airless spray for final DFT of 1000 micron in two coats inclusive of fiber glass of 45 gsm (theoretical coverage depending on surface conditions)
- Sprinkle sand @ 200 grm / m2 over the final vertical coating when the surface is still tacky to facilitate plastering
- Ensure final curing time of 36 hrs before allowing / carrying out any further work
- Conduct ponding test after 7 days of curing at ambient temperature
Protection of Waterproofing:
- Spread ShaliGeoText 150 gsm with overlap of 50 mm in both directions on fully cured surface
- Protect surface with 50 mm PCC admixed with ShaliPlast LW+ and a gradient of 1 : 100.
Rejuvenation of Existing Treatment:
- Clean existing surface thoroughly and remove all loose / foreign material
- TarFelt LM shall be applied on prepared surface as per above procedure
Health & Safety:
- Avoid contact with skin / eyes and avoid swallowing
- Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapor
- Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection
- In case of contact with skin, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. Do not use solvent to clean the contacted area.
- In case of eye contact, wash immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice

Application Methodology Surface Preparation:

Application of Material:
- Prime the concrete substrate with ShaliTex Primer. Primer is not necessary for nonporous / non-absorbent surface
- Place the membrane on the primed surface and remove the film by peeling of the release paper not more than 30 cms at a time, while unrolling SuperTene
- Press down the membrane from the middle to the outer edges. This will help to remove any entrapped air ensuring good adhesion to the substrate
- SuperTene should always be protected to avoid damage caused by other trades, backfilling equipment and materials. Screeds, toppings and tiles should be laid as soon as possible, preferably the same day the membrane is applied. Under no circumstances should the membrane be left exposed for extended period.
Health & Safety:
- Avoid contact with skin / eyes and avoid swallowing.
- Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapour.

- Allow 1st coat to dry for 10 – 12 hr
- Apply 2nd coat of ShaliUrethane® BTD @ 1 kg / m² by brush / roller / airless spray for final DFT of 1500 micron in two coats
- Ensure final curing time of 36 hrs before allowing / carrying out any further work
- Extend waterproofing treatment up to 200 mm and terminate into groove on the parapet wall. Fill the groove with PMC mortar with ShaliSBR Latex
